Green Day have donated $2,000 to a teenage punk band promoter to pay for repairs for damage they caused to a fast food restaurant during a gig.

The band WACKO and their fans descended on a Denny´s eatery in Orange County, California earlier this month (Dec19) after booking a ballroom in the restaurant, but were kicked out and asked to pay back $1,800 after a mosh pit trashed the venue.

Booker Bryson Del Valle, 17, set up a GoFundMe page to help pay the bill, and the Basket Case hitmakers made a donation that more than covered his costs, helping him raise more $2,700 . The band have also raised more than $1,900 via the website.

Green Day posted a receipt of their $2,000 payment on their Instagram Stories page, asking Bryson to "call us" as they wanted to play one of his events. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong also shared reports of their donation on his Instagram account.

Denny´s bosses told the Eater website they were unaware that the booking was for a concert as they do not usually allow events that disrupt other diners.

"Denny´s is a family friendly restaurant and while we do have banquet space available at some restaurants, we do not allow events that can disrupt the dining experience of our guests," they said in a statement. "The manager was unaware a concert was planned, and the event organizers have been asked to pay for damages."
